As a rock enthusiast I’m always searching for new books to add to my collection. On my bookshelf I have many picture books that focus on rocks. The majority of the books are illustrated picture books with a few exceptions – I thought why not write a picture book that offers colorful photography and show the reader the amazing variety of rocks that are in nature just waiting to be discovered. Spending time outdoors is relaxing and rewarding.
Inside this book there is a page dedicated to heart shaped rocks. I remember years ago seeing a photograph with several heart rocks that were all different sizes and thinking I would love to find a heart shaped rock. Then one day I found one. After that I found so many heart rocks. I think it’s just a matter of training your eyes to notice that special shape. In my book, Love You When there is a two page spread dedicated to heart rocks, as well. The heart rocks in these two books are unique to each particular book. Perhaps you are also a heart rock collector, it’s a fun surprise when a heart shaped rock appears in front of you. Readers have asked me “Do you carve the rocks?” “No,” I say “I find them just like this.” Love surrounds us.
